LUDHIANA: Now, the Suvidha Centre is going to be a place to show anger against the authorities as the district administration has decided to open a special counter to help people to lodge complaints against them in the government offices.
In an importantstep to make the authorities responsible toward the public, a complaint centrehas been established on the premises of the centre. If annoyed by any authorityin the district administration, now the common man has a space in the centre tofile a written complaint, in case he or she faces any problem in any of thedistrict administration’s office.
Launching the first complaintcentre in Punjab, deputy commissioner Rahul Tiwari said, ??Before this, due tothe lack of any system, there was no channelization of the complaints in the DCoffice.
But now I would have a proper computerized record of the complaints madeby the people. Now it will not be easy for the authorities to delay the recordof complaints. I think it could work on the lines of RTI Act.??
In anorder issued by the DC, it has been made mandatory for authorities concerned toact on the complaints with the complaint centre within 45 days. Otherwise strictaction would be taken against the responsible authorities.
In the newarrangements made at the Suvidha Centre, complaints against the authoritiescould be made at the counter number 5 in the hall number one. There would be nocharges to file a complaint. A complaint number will be given to thecomplainant. After that complaint would be forward to the DCoffice.
The DC office will inquire into the matter and askauthorities to solve the problem. Sukhvinder, a resident, said, “It can bea good step to reduce the suffering of the people in the government offices. Butit will only happen if the DC office will continuously take notice of thecomplaints at the centre. Otherwise, there will be no use of thefacility.”
